Demolition for Jacksonville Properties

Older single wides sit on rural lots all over Onslow County, and plenty of them are past saving. The same goes for the sheds and block outbuildings on land that has changed hands. Coastal Brush Mowing handles demolition in Jacksonville and out through the county. We have done this work since 2013, and we run up from Burgaw in about forty minutes.

Demolition on a rural tract is mostly a hauling problem. Knocking a structure down is the quick part of the day. Getting the material off the lot and into the right place is what takes the time. We work with an excavator and a tracked skid steer, and the dump truck follows behind.

What We Handle in Jacksonville

  • Single wide and double wide mobile homes torn down and hauled off
  • Sheds, pole barns and block outbuildings on rural Onslow County tracts
  • Concrete slabs, footings and old block foundations broken out
  • Storm damaged and fire damaged structures taken down from the outside
  • Metal sorted out on site, which cuts the load count and the landfill bill
  • The spot graded back after haul off, ready to seed or build on

Mobile Home Removal and the Onslow County Permit

Onslow County requires a permit from the tax office before a mobile home leaves its lot. That permit comes from the Collections Division at 234 NW Corridor Boulevard in Jacksonville. Any back taxes plus the estimated taxes for the current year have to be paid first. Moving a home without one is a Class 3 misdemeanor under state law.

Most of the homes we get called on come apart right where they sit. The material leaves in loads, and the lot is clear by the end of it. Old single wides give up a lot of steel frame and metal roofing that can be pulled out separately. Send us photos of the home and we can tell you how it will come apart.

Outbuildings, Slabs and Storm Damaged Structures

Onslow County has been farmed a long time, with about 52,500 acres still in production. Buy an older tract out toward Richlands and you often inherit a sagging barn or a block pump house. Those come down cleanly once the roof is off and the walls have somewhere to fall. We take the foundation and the slab with them, so the ground goes back to grade.

Storm damage is its own category here. Jacksonville has taken hurricane weather for centuries, and a bad one still puts roofs on the ground. When a structure is unsafe to enter, we work it from the outside with the excavator. Once it is down and hauled, the spot is ready for new dirt work.

Do I need a permit to remove a mobile home in Onslow County?
The county requires a tax office permit before a mobile home is removed from its lot. It comes from the Collections Division on NW Corridor Boulevard in Jacksonville. Back taxes and the current year's estimated taxes have to be settled first.
Do you haul the debris away?
Yes. The dump truck runs with the machine, so material leaves as the structure comes down. We sort the metal out on site, which keeps the number of loads down. Concrete and block go out separately from the rest of the load.
Can you take out the slab and foundation too?
Yes. Slabs, footings and block walls break out with the excavator. Old brick piers and buried footings come up the same way. We can grade the spot back afterward so it is level and ready for the next thing.
