Surf City sits on both sides of the Intracoastal Waterway, so lots here come in two very different shapes. Island lots run small and sandy, wedged tight between houses and driveways that already stand. Mainland parcels off NC 210 and NC 50 run bigger, holding pine and years of heavy underbrush. We clear both kinds of lot, and the Pender County half of Surf City is our home county.
Coastal Brush Mowing is owner operated out of Burgaw and has cleared lots on this coast since 2013. The person who answers your call is the one running the excavator on your lot. Our land clearing page covers how the work runs on any site, from first cut to final haul. For a Surf City lot, call (910) 512-9578 or send the address through the contact page.

On the island the job is usually small and tight, with no room to swing a machine wide. Yaupon and volunteer pines crowd the side yard between two houses that are already built. A tracked skid steer fits through that gap, and it floats over soft sand without rutting it. What we cut goes straight into the dump truck, since there is no room on the lot to pile it.
Across the bridge, mainland Surf City lots off NC 210 look nothing like the island side. Those parcels hold real pine timber and low spots that stay wet long after a rain. There we bring the excavator, windrow the material and grub out the root balls. The fixed span bridge that opened in 2018 does not swing open, so we cross on our own schedule.
Surf City more than doubled in population between 2010 and 2020, and building has not slowed. A lot of that is teardown and rebuild, where an old cottage comes down and a taller house goes up. We clear the vegetation, pull the stumps and grade the pad so the builder can set forms. Old shell driveways and buried concrete often turn up once the brush is off the lot.
Hurricane Florence came ashore just south of Surf City in September 2018 and knocked down a lot of trees. Storms since then have left leaning pines, hung limbs and broken tops on lots all over the island. We take that material down, load it out and leave the ground flat enough to mow. Downed pine rots slowly in this sandy soil and holds moisture against anything sitting near it.
More about the service itself is on our Land Clearing page, and everything we do around town is on the Surf City service-area page.
