Wilmington runs out of empty land before it runs out of demand. New Hanover County is close to fully built. A new house on a good street often means the old one comes off first. That makes teardown work steady here, and we drive down from Burgaw to do it.
A Wilmington demolition covers more than the building. The slab, footings, an old pool shell and any buried tank all have to come out and leave the lot. We break and load with an excavator, then haul it off by dump truck. See our demolition page for the full process, and the Wilmington page for the rest of our work here.

City lots in Wilmington sit close together. There is often little room between the house coming down and the one staying up. That decides everything: where the excavator sets, which wall comes in first, and where the dump truck backs in. We plan the drop so material falls into the footprint instead of across a property line.
Access matters as much as space on these jobs. Older Wilmington streets are narrow, some have on street parking, and big trees hang over the curb. A tracked skid steer moves debris out to the truck when the excavator cannot reach the street. On tighter jobs we haul more loads rather than force a bigger machine into the yard.
North Carolina requires notice to the state before a building comes down, even when no asbestos is present. That notice goes to the Health Hazards Control Unit at NC DHHS. An inspection by an accredited asbestos inspector comes before that on most structures. The local demolition permit is separate, and both have to be in place.
Utility disconnects come next, and water and sewer run through Cape Fear Public Utility Authority here. Power and gas each need their own shutoff before anything moves. The owner or builder arranges those before we set a date for the machine. Once the site is clear we take the structure down and load out, then backfill so excavation can start.
More about the service itself is on our Demolition page, and everything we do around town is on the Wilmington service-area page.
